Howie & Hamster

Hi Y’all!

This PAIR needs HELP.  Yes, you heard me right …PAIR.  These two have spent their lives together.   They love each other, they groom each other and they snuggle together.

These two sweet boys were abandoned at their home when it was foreclosed.

Can you imagine  your own family suddenly leaving and not returning…no walks, no food, no water…only each other.

Despite everything they have gone through these two are sweet gentle dogsHamster is lively and seems to keep Howie young with his liveliness.

These two need a home where they will live indoors.  They need to feel secure that they will never be abandoned again.

This pair is at Bowling Green-Warren County Humane Society in Kentucky.  Their contact information is telephone:

270-783-9404 or email LorriC143@aol.com

  2. Oh my gosh. That was really sad... I'm sorry. Reading this post really made me cry. I do hope the person who'll adopt them would take the entire package.

    1. Hi Y'all,

I didn't mean to make y'all cry...but it is so sad to think that the humans who we love unconditionally have no more feeling for us.

  5. Except in the very first, very sad picture, they look great! I see "must be home together" dogs every once in awhile, and I always hope that it works out for them.

    1. Hi Y'all,

The one dog is an elder dog. Paws crossed they stay together because they are so deeply bonded.

    1. Hi Y'all,

It is heartbreaking when someone looses everything and must give up their family pets. However, there are rescue groups who will assist and the local shelter...why would you ever leave a dog locked in a foreclosed home to go hungry and thirsty?

I realize that rescues and shelters are overloaded with pets, but that still is not an excuse to abandon a helpless animal. People think that someone from the bank will check on the house, but it could be months before anyone finds pets left in a home.

  9. Aweful! I couldn't imagine leaving my dogs behind like that. If someone MUST get rid of their dogs, they should be responsible and try to find a home for them first. So sad. I hope they find a better family.

    1. Hi Y'all,

Maybe they bonded so closely to each other 'cause they really didn't have that loving of a family.

  10. Bowling Green isn't far from where I'm from in Kentucky...If I were going home... :-) But I hope these two find a good home!! After having Bubba and Toby, and our girl CarrieAnne and her sister, I know the bond two dogs can have to one another, and how important it is they be kept together!

    1. Hi Y'all,

It's not too terribly far from Nashville. I hope they also consider families from Tennessee.

(of course living in very rural areas where an hour or two drive to town is nothing...my idea of "near" and "far" aren't always the same as "most" people's idea)

It's difficult enough to find a home for a senior dog...but 2 dogs together need lots of help...hope others pass their story onward.

      Paws crossed,
      Hawk

  12. Hawk I'm writing on behalf of Bert. He goes to your blog and it comes for 1/2 second then goes away. He really wants to comment on your blog but can't. Is it just him or are others having this issue. I can tell ya I'm not.
    Blessings,
