Pet Blogger Challenge 2015

Hi Y’all!

P1310523

Y’all will find the answers following each question about my blog published below.    You can either join or just hop around and visit.  This is the 5th time that Go Pet Friendly has organized this blog hop to share our thoughts, dreams, hopes and ideas.

P1310562

And now, without further ado, here are the questions for Pet Blogger Challenge 2015:

1. How long have you been blogging?

I started keeping a journal 16 October 2008.  It actually began as a Journal that is still there.

The BlogSpot blog started in May 2009. Please note, the original Journal is no longer active.

P1310666

2. Tell us one thing that you accomplished on your blog during 2014 that made you proud.

Finding out how many of the dogs I featured on Tuesday’s Tales blog hop for shelter dogs had found happy forever homes.

Last year I said “I guess that I’m most proud that I have continued to dedicate one day each week to Rescue dogs in need.  I’ve switched the day I feature them to Tuesday so I can participate in “Tuesday’s Tales…a blog hop to promote shelter pets.”

P1310634

3. What lessons have you learned this year – from other blogs, or through your own experience – that could help us all with our own blogs?

Being a dog, I’m more comfortable with body language.  I tend to use more and more photos in my posts.  I have so much to say, but it’s hard to put into words.  Not sure you humans prefer the photos because my all time favorite posts are from earlier years.

  P1310636

4. What have you found to be the most successful way to bring traffic to your blog, other than by writing great content?

Other than joining in blog hops that fit my life style, I don’t worry about traffic.  Remember, the whole thing started as my personal journal.   I keep my blog for fun and to entertain; after all, this is my diary and my moments I’m sharing.

P1310641

5. What was your most popular blog post this year? Did it surprise you that it was your most popular?

Actually, it was this post, last year.  BOL!

P1310650

6. What was your favorite blog post to write this year?

You’re askin’ a tough one here.  It’s always the last post I did.

P1310651

7. Has your policy on product reviews and/or giveaways changed this year?

No, it hasn’t.

P1310656

If you do reviews, what do you find works best, and what doesn’t work at all?

When I get something I really like, I tell my readers.  It is normally something my Human purchased for me.  I’ve only reviewed one item that was sent to me by a company whose products I have always used.

P1310659

If you don’t do reviews, is this something you’d like to do more of? What hurdle is getting in your way?

Since this blog is my diary, if an item isn’t something I need or use, I never review it.  I never solicit companies to review items.

P1310242

8. What’s your best piece of advice for other bloggers?

If blogging stops being fun, stop blogging.

 P1310255

9. What goals do you have for your blog in 2015?

My goal is to keep sharing my life as a retriever who is a family pet.  So many active, working breeds are pets, but people never understand or satisfy their drive to work.  You can have so much fun with a working breed, but first you have to be understand its drive and be willing to be very active yourself.

P1320533

10. If you could ask the pet blogging community for help with one challenge you’re having with your blog, what would it be?

I’d like to know why you like to visit my blog and what you’d like to see on future posts.

  6. I, too, got my blogging start over at LiveJournal! It's been a long time since anyone's mentioned that site! What a lot of fun it was! Great post here - thanks for sharing! Looking forward to reading more from you this year!

  8. I so agree with you about keeping things fun, Hawk! And I love that you are showing folks how to keep a pet that is a working dog happy. A working dog wants to do some work! With your blog and everything, you've got lots of work to do! Love to see your beautiful pictures and just hear what's happening in your corner of the world! And good for you for helping those rescue pups!

  9. Don't be surprised when your most popular posts are from earlier years. It's true for many of us. And it's usually a sign that people keep coming back after searching for something online.

I loved your answer to #9. My sister lives in the Chesapeake Bay area and we see so many fat CBRs because their people don't give them jobs. You, Hawk, are such a healthy and handsome boy because you're people love you and give you work to do that I'm sure you enjoy.

  10. I love your answer to #8: "If blogging stops being fun, stop blogging." So simple and to the point! We all need a break sometimes, and when doing what we love starts to feel like a chore, that's our cue to step back and take a breather. Great advice, Hawk!

PS: My favorite thing about your blog are all the great action shots of you romping around outside - you always look like such a happy guy! ;)

  11. I enjoy exactly what you are doing now. I enjoy all of the photos you share and the tidbits about what you are up to. I enjoy learning more about your breed and the things you do to stay active.
It was pretty cool to go back and see your original journal and I'm impressed at how long you've been doing this. That shows that you are keeping it fun and enjoyable!

  12. That's great that you have helped so many pets find homes. When I come by your blog (which, sadly, I don't have much time to do with school) I come for the pictures. You always look like you are having fun.

  13. I used to feature adoptable pets on Fridays...now you've got me thinking I'd like to join that Tuesday's Tales! Kudos to you for finding them homes. Your blog was among the first ones I'd visit when I started blogging - we go way back, Hawk, you and I! ;) Paws down, my favorite part of your blog is your phenomenal photos. They always blow me away, they're so beautiful, and look so inviting. Happy 2015!

  14. Good for you, Hawk! I'm so glad that the dogs you've featured on Tuesday Tales have found loving homes! You're making a difference, and you should be really proud of that. I love the fact that you always look so happy - there's nothing better than pictures of a happy dog. Thanks so much for participating in the Challenge and have a great 2015!

  15. Hiya Hawk!! Great post! We love your pictures too!

  16. Tanner and I loved reading your answer to question number 9 about understanding and fulfilling a working dog's need to use his instincts. Tanner would be miserable without his daily fetch game and a swim somewhere in the middle. Surprisingly, I've found this built-in neediness to be true with my Papillon also. His "companion dog" attitude has taught me much about the job a pocket dog sees himself in, at least for my own little guy. Nice work, Hawk!

  17. As so many have said, love the pics. Nice to get to know you better, too. See you in May at the BlogPaws Conference?

  19. I like that you host a blog hop for shelter dogs. We recently stopped by the shelter to register our dogs and took a walk by the many shelter dogs. I wanted to bring them all home :( but it also got me thinking what more can I do to help these dogs. Maybe joining your hop could be a way.

Best of luck to you in 2015!
