What kind of toy you got this time to play in the snow with? I wonder what Santa is going to bring you this year.

It’s called a Kong Rope Squeezz…and yes KONG sent it to me in the mail…my Human said I would “try” it out.  So it was a gift to the Hawk aka BrownDog courtesy of the Kong company…My Human said I should show this next shot of me and the Human Papa…see original post here.

You sure do love playing in the snow, don't you Hawk? We just had some snow this weekend, but not enough to have fun in.

P1300444

Snow is fun at first then miserable, cold, wet, freezing…I don’t like staying out in it long!

About Mischief Monday’s post…

Those are a lot of important tips. I can't think of much more heartbreaking than losing your dog and not knowing where he was or how to get him back. We live in the city and our yard is fenced, and I agree, it is important to never leave the dogs unattended. You look like you have a lot of land to roam. How big is your backyard, Hawk?

P1300259

Which backyard?  At the mountain house I have a small fenced yard not much bigger than a kennel run.

Oh your talkin’ about where I’m running in the picture above and below aren’t you?

Hmmm, I'm not sure. Are you saying "Throw it! Throw the Wubba!"? If not, then you may have to bark at me, pal. BOL

Judging by the comments, maybe I do need words!

About yesterday’s post to answer the question about root cellars…

Emma said...

So, is your job to dig the root cellar to store the goods? I would think us dogs would be really useful for that. Up here in MN we are way to cold for storing anything outside that shouldn't be frozen. The frost line is pretty deep!

P1300679

I’m a retriever, they need some other breed if they want things dug.  I don’t dig.

We don't have them here in AZ - too hot and too hard to dig into the ground. We are watching a show about homesteading in Alaska and they have root cellars there - so maybe it does work in extreme cold?

In answer, since I don’t know the answer some comments  from others…

Great description of root cellars! My grandparents had one in upstate NY. I love all your pix Hawk... you match your surroundings so great! Happy TNT, Meghan at 2catsandacattledog.com

Great explanation, and yes there are a couple of farms out here in Oklahoma that have root cellars, they seem to work well, as you say if dug in the right place!

Thanks for joining TNT. I'd love to have a root cellar, but in the city, it doesn't really work. I think there may be some old farm houses around that have them. I was in an old farm house years ago that had one. The people didn't use it as a root cellar though. They just used it for storage of stuff.

Good stuff on the root cellars. We still have them in some areas. Some people make em pretty fancy. I really like ours when it is hot outside cause it is so cool down there.
Have a great week
