Training or Not?

Hi Y’all!

P1440709

Today I’m joining Slim Doggy, Emma from MyGBGV Life and To Dog With Love in Fit Dog Friday blog hop!

I’m also joining the Pet Parade Blog Hop hosted by Rascal and Rocco and co-hosted by Jan's Funny Farm, Basil the Bionic Cat, Barking from the Bayou, and Love is being Owned by a Husky!

And, since it’s the last Friday of the month…check out all the Halloween tales (or is it tails?)…

Most of y’all are celebrating Halloween…we live in a rural area and have never seen a “trick or treater”.

Hope y’all have a ghostly good time!

P1440678

Yesterday I promised y’all…“Check out my post tomorrow for more about recall training.”

P1440783

Let’s go all the way back to when I first came to live with my Humans…One day I found myself in the long hall with a long rope attached to my collar…

P1440806

My Human put me in a “sit, wait” at the end of the hall.  She walked to the other end.  Then she called me “here!”

P1440811

Then we moved outside…still with the “check cord” (rope) on my collar.

"I knew there was no turning back now!"  Only going forward…

P1440812

Molly The Wally comments…

“Great catch up Hawk and now back to treats...??? Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly”

P1440814

Yep treats…I got treats when I came “here”.  I still get treats when I “here”.  It didn’t take long for me to realize my Human could pull me back with that “check cord”.

P1440816

easyweimaraner

“my mom said, that's THE RIGHT way: you get paid for doing... and then she looked at moi... seems I have a problem, huh?”

P1440829

No, you don’t have a problem…we’re retrievers…we love to retrieve stuff…the Humans have to pay up when we help them.  Humans work, why shouldn’t we?

P1440833

Sometimes I think my Humans chose me because I was a retriever.  Retrievers work closely with their humans.

 P1440834

Now, there are “sight hounds” that chase anything that moves and “scent hounds” that will track anything ‘til they find it.  These breeds have a strong prey drive and may be less inclined to think of their human as a partner.

If they’re not careful they might catch a Goblin!!!

P1440801

Then there are “another” kind of dog…BOL!!! All they need to do is “train the humans!”

Jerry E Beuterbaugh

“Our training has expanded to include giving treats when one of us leaves the living room and then comes back. Trixie insists that the key is her intense stare-down while Grayson wants to believe that his Kung-Fu puppy spinning back-kick does the trick for treats. To be quite honest about it, we are helpless to resist either one. Sigh.”

P1440895

How Sam Sees It

“Our pups get treats for looking cute - we are suckers!
Monty and Harlow”

P1440896

Unfortunately, my Human isn’t into “cute” or “eyes”…I have to train EVERY day.  My Human is big on “reinforcing” training.

P1440898

Y’all come on back now!

Hi Y’all!

P1440657

P1440679

You might also enjoy hopping around with Ruckus the Eskie and Love is Being Owned by a Husky in Thoughtless Thursday.

P1440700

Last Friday’s post “Active Day” brought a number of comments about “treats” for rewards…

P1440041

Jerry E Beuterbaugh

“Our pups get treats when I get out of bed, when Arlynda gets out of bed, when one of us comes back into the house from going outside for some reason and when they come back into the house from doing their business. That makes us well-trained--right?”

P1440229

BOL!!!  I have to get busy trainin’ my Humans!  I only get paid for doin’.  The only exception is when they leave for appointments or shopping, I get paid up front to guard the house.

P1320842

Jenna,Mark Drady

“Did someone say treats?
Thanks for linking up with us HAwk!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!

P1440465

Yep!  I said TREATS!!!

Check out my post tomorrow for more about recall training.

On Black and White Sunday’s post, “Now Where”…

P1440095

brought this comment from Bichonpawz

“We think you must be going back to your other house! We just did that too! It is a lot of work...but we have fun! Xo Chloe and LadyBug”

Was followed up with Mischief Monday’s post “Mischief in the Making

Miley's Daily Scoop queried…

“No pee mail??? Sounds mischievous to us!!!”

Talent Hounds asked…

“What's so confusing Hawk?”

Shannon Adams  said…

“I left a comment but I'm not sure if it went through bc something went all wonky. :-/ So anyway, a new place to explore can be fun! Did you leave pee mail for someone else to read?”

Janet Keefe

“We think you were on the move, and cell phones don't do very well at capturing that! We wonder what new place you were at though?Jan & the crew at Wag 'n Woof Pets”

Y’all want to know too, where I was and why don’t you?

P1440644

My Humans took me with them to an appointment. And yes, I left lots of pee mail for the next doggie.

I Love Lucy!

Hi!  So glad you found me.  I’m so excited to tell my story on Tuesday’s Tales!

I’m looking for a special family to adopt and share my love.  I love children.  I’m house trained.
