Tuesdays Trials and Tribulations

Hi Y’all!

Yesterday was a busy day for the Humans…lots of gardening.  Today my Human goes to Bible Study. Then, she said, she needs to come home to do battle with more weeds.  I’m getting downright jealous of these weeds!  She’s spending more time with them than me!

My Human gets so sore she can hardly move after all that work.  That means I have to look after her.

Y’all know what those green leaves are?

Sage (here)asked me if little alligators grew into BIG alligators.  Yes they do!  When they get to be 12 to 14 feet the DNR usually shoots them.  If you remember this picture, it is where an alligator usually winters.  The drought is so bad this year that only a small isolated pool of water remains. Where we are standing to take the photo is usually water.  When the alligator leaves in the spring it becomes a nice nesting spot for ducks.  If the drought continues, no ducks will nest there this year.

This is a picture of me on the pier in 2009.

This picture below is looking in the other direction toward the main body of water.

Below is looking the same direction this past February 2011.

There is no water up underneath the pier.

Time for a nap.

Y’all come back now!

  1. Weeds. Ugh--we hate them too and will have a ton after all the rain we've had. Maybe we can send some of that rain your way!!

  2. Hawk, you live in a beautiful place! Sorry about your drought. We get those, too. Just not this year, thank dog!! Don't let your human over-do the weeding!!

  3. Does she not let you help dig up weeds?

  4. It sounds like you live in a very lovely place; alligators and all. :)
Make sure your human doesn't over do it.

  5. Taking weeds out? That's what us dogs are for!

  6. It's a good thing your human has you to take care of her. Pulling weeds is tough on the body. Maybe you could pull some weeds out right next to her?

  7. I hope that the drought breaks... Alligators really scare me - much more than mountain lions. Can Hawk go swimming or is the alligator danger too great?

  8. Hope you enjoyed your nap and that you are having a great week so far!

  9. Too bad the alligator had to find a different place to winter. And, it makes me sad that if they manage to survive long enough to become so large they get shot by the DNR.
