Mischief or Just My Job?

For those of you who saw this picture on Thursday and Friday…

and for Janet Keefe and the gang at Wag n Woof Pets who asked if the picture above was a ruffed grouse… and for Molly the Wally and Dog the Dina who asked if I found something good or sniffed something good…

I tried to retrieve the bird for my Human, but she called me off…She said that the bird looked like it had been injured in a panic flight from a predator.  My Human also said that Grouse have a very high mortality rate because they are at the bottom of the food chain for lots of predators.

My Human was able to capture a few fast photos with the telephoto lens.  We often catch a glimpse of these birds but they are moving too fast to ever get a picture.

    Grouse are indeed VERY fast birds. Those are some super shots your human got.

    Grouse...I love chasing grouse but have never caught one but I try. Have a marvellous Monday Hawk.

    I don't think I have ever seen a grouse, Hawk. Those are some great photos your mom got of it. I hope you are having a great Monday!

    Great photos by your human, Hawk! It is difficult to get photos of them, we usually only see them in flight when one of the dogs flushes them up! Occasionally in the winter we get them at our bird feeders though, but they also leave pretty quickly when they see us. You were such a good boy not to bother that one!
