Lot’s of Barks this Week!

Hi Y’all!

P1380618

Come on along with me! I’m joining Thursday’s Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like a Dog.

I’m also linkin’ up with Ruckus the Eskie and Love is Being Owned by a Husky in Thoughtless Thursday.

Going back to last week’s “Up Close and Personal”…

Talk about up close and personal! Man hawk, you have some serious curls there. How do you maintain that?
Happy Thoughtless Thursday, Ruckus the Eskie

My hair is easy to maintain.  My Human brushes me about once a week.  My coat protects me from briars and other nasty things.  I shed.  I require no clipping and infrequent bathing, unless my allergies are bothering me.  Basically, Chessies have low maintenance coats.

Then I had this comment on my nice mountain weather…

Hawk, you are so handsome! Can we possibly exchange weather? We have that green toy, but it isn't attached to a pull toy. Pierre loves it.

If you can figure out a way to talk to Mother Nature, I’d be willing to share…

It looks like you have a wide choice of toys to choose from! Did you help your mom get the tick off? Those little vampire bugs are nasty!

P1380793

My Human felt the tick crawling on her neck and got it off without my help or my Human Papa’s.

We like to vary the toys here too. It keeps the old toys looking new by putting them away for a while. Did you get an allergic reaction to timothy, Hawk?

P1380795

I’ve been getting my allergy shots every week, so my Human Mama and Papa kept a close watch on my tummy, but all is well.

About “Evil Thoughts”

that's a thingy where all humans would scream and call you back... but it's only a test if she is a good doggy-guard, right?

You just can't help yourself, right Hawk? :D

I just do it to be ornery.  She never gives me a moment’s privacy!  Unless she’s sleeping.

About yesterday’s post “Hand It to Me Please”

Is it a new toy? ENJOY! Happy Wednesday. Golden Woofs

No, here is a picture of me with my Human Papa in August 2012

Well done Hawk. Have you been practicing that long?

P1380280

“Pick it up”, “hand it to me” are always followed with “please” and “thank you” when I hand it to my Human.  (Here is a post of training retrievers to do these chores) and (here is an earlier post on basic training to retrieve) Those are some of my main chores that I do around the house.

Some of y’all mentioned that you like to play chase…When I came to live with my Humans I thought the game was “keep away”!  I get the bumper or toy and you, the human, chase me for it.  Great fun and of course I always won!  My Human was warned when she got me.

P1380721

We retrievers can be very helpful around the house.  I pick up laundry when my Human drops it and other things and hand them over.  She often has treats with her and pays me when she says “thank you”.

P1370979

Yes, I’m now a senior dog, but my Human still pays me the treats like I’m a pup…and I LOVE IT!!!

Y’all hurry back now!

  2. I hope you don't every destroy your green toy! What would you do then? Mom knows a Chessie lady here and we have seen some at nose work tests. You are sort of like curly retrievers, but then again not. Always love your "out in nature" photos.

  16. Thank you for joining the blog hop Hawk.

You should continue to get treats even if you are considered 'senior.' If you are helping out, you should be paid for that!
