Hi Y’all!
Let me tell you more about fire ants…if you look at the above photo you will notice bald spots in my coat…thanks to the fire ants. Fire ants are a serious problem in the low country…although some areas anywhere south of the Mason Dixon line suffer with the little Devils, though not to the extent the low country suffers.
Fire ants are not to be confused with red ants which are not as hazardous to ones health.
My Humans get our yard sprayed twice a year, spring and fall, to prevent the little critters. When they sprayed this year the wetland was underwater much higher than normal. The lower part of the lawn became wetland.
Since you were near the river I'm thinking either a mosquito or fly bite Hawk...Have to come back to see for sure...Love the colors and effects in the last photo…
Ah, Gizmo my friend, thank you. I asked my Human about that photo…she was playing with her camera focus and hasn’t been able to duplicate it…As for the mirror effect…that happened when I placed the photo into the “writer”…it just happened…So y’all, that photo was an accident and neither my Human nor can take credit.
I received lots of questions about my Wordless Wednesday post (here), or see photo below.
Hey Hawk have you been fishing?
Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Love your smile Hawk. Can't help but wonder what is making you so happy.
Blessings,
Goose
You look so happy, did you just go for a swim or to fetch?
How was the water, Hawk? Is the water getting colder yet?
*high paws* for a Happy Wednesday!
Oz
Looking good Hawk - nice smile...like you're up to something.
Any success on the fishing trip, Hawk?
Did you catch anything Hawk.
Happy WW.
Sheba.
The truth be told I was just coming out after washing those nasty fire ants off my legs and belly. My Human sent be back out again to chase my ball. She said she wanted to be sure there weren’t any on the rest of me! So I got a nice swim.
No, the water hasn’t cooled much, but I haven’t seen the gator lately.
My Human said she’s going to take the flashlight down to the inlet that comes up into the lawn. If no eyes are lookin’ back, she’ll start lettin’ me fetch bumpers from the water again. YES!!!
I had a question about black n white Sunday’s post I’ll address tomorrow.
Got to go get some exercise now!
My Human is jogging with me twice a day again…early and late ‘cause it’s still too hot mid-day.
Y’all come back now!
Oh those fire ants. Grrrrr. Not fun my friend. Hope the gator is gone so you can play in the water.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Didn't know that fire ants were so big a problem for you Hawk...Down here they're wicked...Luckily Gizmo hasn't got into them yet but I have stepped on those demons too many times and those bites take forever to heal...About the photo...sometimes the greatest art just "happens"
ReplyDeleteYikes pesky fire ants. Nasty. Stay well Hawk. Have a fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Who is a better runner? You or the human?

Grrr.... fire ants!
ReplyDeleteAwesome follow-up Hawk, thanks for joining the hop!
ReplyDeleteI do hope the fire ant season is over, that's just terrible that you are losing your furs over it.
I learned something today, I had no idea you could have two hops on your blog. Amazing!
Have a great weekend.
Well that's good to hear its still hot there. It's been cold n chilly here. Happy Friday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteUgh, fire ants are terrible. Niles has been bit by a few, the worst was when they get her stub :( She nearly went bald licking and chewing at it before I realized what was up. Feel better, Hawk!
ReplyDeleteYuck, those fire ants sounds horrid. I'm glad you can at least get some water time in.
ReplyDeleteYou keep on enjoying yourself! Don't let the ants get ya down!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great follow up. Thankd for explaining fire ants. Nice job staying fit
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine needing to worry about fire ants and gators! Stay safe, Hawk!
ReplyDeleteI ready on another blog (Oh My Dog) how her dog had an allergic reaction to those nasty fire ants. I'm glad you at least don't have that, Hawk.
ReplyDeleteYou do so great at staying fit, jogging twice a day with your human, and playing fetch too! Great job!

The gators, snakes and fire ants need to move out and stop bugging you Hawk!
