My first question was from way back on Friday, January 3rd!
Hey Hawkie! Happy New Year.
What are Anhingas? LOL... At first, I read it like angina... isn't that like a heart problem.
Speaking of cardio, have a happy and fit weekend.
Yep, angina refers to cardiac pain, or pain in your chest caused by heart problems. Anhingas, on the other hand, refer to these birds which only flock like this in the winter. You can find detail of the difference between Anhingas and Cormorants here.
If you ever get to coastal areas you will see these birds. Cormorants normally are found around salt water, while Anhingas prefer fresh water. They fish for a living. Most people can’t tell the differnce between them, so Anhingas are frequently mistaken for Cormorants. You will often see them sitting on piers with their wings spread wide to dry them.
In the photos above, the large white birds are Pelikans, the smaller white ones are seagulls.
Hey Hawkeye, thanks for the water fowl lesson, we don't see stuffs like that here. Are they fun to chase?
The Mad Scots
They usually fly over water, so to chase them you have to swim. Are y’all any good at swimming FAST!!!
Happy New Year Hawk and thank you for joining the blog hop.
You have some beautiful scenery out there. I wonder if your human spends a lot of time watching the birds with binoculars? I imagine I would.
Yes, my Humans watch birds through binoculars. More and more my Human finds herself using her telephoto lenses and taking photos while she admires them.
Hi Hawk! Looking great as always. Is it hard to make sure you don't blend in too much to the sepia tone :) ? Also, thanks friend for putting up my badge on your side bar! I appreciate the support! See you next week on Sepia Saturday!
One morning at the shore my Human took a color photo that everyone thought was in sepia when I posted it in my blog. Winter at the shore and even in the mountains has lots of naturally sepia locations for photo taking.
The whole purpose of Chessie coloration is so they blend in when hunting, which is often done in fall and winter. I can just blend in and disappear this time of year!
See me yet?
What about now?

You have such a beautiful world in blk and white and color. Are you squinting your eyes so you don't get them poked by the brush?
What a silly expression you have on there, Hawk! Is that your tongue I see sticking out at us?
As always, looks like you are having lots of fun!
Beautiful photo... autumn leaves, but where's the snow? :)
Yes, that’s my tongue!
I do have my eyes closed as I whip through the saplings.
As for snow…this was between snows…they don’t usually last long when they come. We don’t get snow when we are at the shore, only here in the mountains.
As for our weather…my Human took a photo of the clock when we came inside after our second morning walk. She said she never remembers weather this cold!
Hope that cold weather doesn’t return this winter!
Y’all hurry back now!
