Thoughtful Barks and a Serious Byte

Hi Y’all!

P1350983

Y’all know by now that Bert’s best buddy Goose has been very, very ill.  Wonderfully he is smiling and back home with his Mom.  He still has lots of healing to do and needs all of us to continue to send our paw power and prayers

About Sepia Saturday’s Post…”Hey What Are You Doing?”

Jans Funny Farm said...

“We thought at first glance you have a corn cob in your mouth, but that's not right. We're not sure what it is, but nice pic”.

Too funny!  That’s one of my training bumpers in my mouth.  My Human had hidden several around and sent me to find bring them back.

Now this next photo threw lots of y’all for a loop…

“your sepia photo is great! What's that thingy in the second picture? Mom said it's a head of a rhino but I think she should wear her glasses. Have a good saturday!”

“What a funny creature you have there. What is it Hawk?

Then on Wordless Wednesday I posted this color photo and suddenly it was clear we had a Great Blue Heron.

Only easyweimaraner seemed to still be confused…

“Oh that's Big Bird from Sesame Street, right? Will he have Kermit for lunch?”

“Great sepia photos. Did you get close to that egret or zoom in? So cool!”

JoAnn Stancer said...

“Very cool photos, how did you get to sneek up behind that egret? You are super sneeky.”

Janet Keefe said...

“What is that bird up to? It looks like it might have nesting materials in it's mouth?
Cool photos, love them in sepia!

Above the great blue heron spied me and my Human…we think what we are seeing is…well…y’all know that the heron catches fish and swallows them head first…after he digests the meat the bones are regurgitated…

P1360475

We always thought they expelled the bones as a pellet, however, we think what we may be seeing is the regurgitated bones or perhaps it is nesting materials.  Other wise, we’re at a loss to know for sure what the heron is holding.

Oh, and it was a combo of sneak and peak and zoom!!! to catch that photo.

On Sunday, the day of rest, I got this question…

JoAnn Stancer said...

“Watcha resting up for Hawk? For your big Memorial Day grill out party? Hope the rest of your weekend is great!”

P1360030

I’m afraid we don’t get to barbecue and party over Memorial Day.  My Humans make Sunday a day of rest…literally.  That means no work of any kind.  Isn’t that fun!!!

Today I’m joining Thursday’s Barks and Bytes Blog Hop hosted by 2 Brown Dawgs and Heart Like a Dog.

I’m also linkin’ up with Ruskus the Eskie in Thoughtless Thursday.

  5. Hmmm.....what kind of bird is that brown one in the last few photos? I have never seen a bird like him before! Interesting! I was wondering what the heck that sepia photo was. I knew it was some sort of heron, but the way the feather was poking out, I thought maybe it was some sort of plastic decoy type bird or something.
Thanks for linking up with Ruckus and I for thoughtless Thursday!

  6. Looks like nesting materials. We've been concerned about Goose, too. Glad to hear he's at least home with his mama. Thanks for the update.

  7. Awesome job Hawk!! I had no idea what that egret was holding in its mouth, but it looked like grass and weeds to me. ;-)
