Did the Rains Wash All the Color Away?

Hi Y’all!

It’s time for another color update!

It seems as if the days of rains and winds have stripped most of the colored leaves off the trees.  But the cool evening temperatures and fast shortening days are causing new color. In the past few days the distinctive sourwood has started to get its beautiful deep red.More and more leaves on the ground are showing varying shades of red, yellow or just plain brown.  Another sourwood still dripping from the recent rains. That bug seems to be everywhere doesn’t it?  The rest of the field looking sunny on a gray day.  Even in fields of wild flowers color starts to add itself to the trees.

Then I come home tired and out of breath.

When we get home I have to make sure the Humans get busy with supper.  Between lookin’ after the Humans and findin’ autumn color for y’all, there’s never a minutes rest!

Y’all come back now!

  12. We are so glad all that rain went away; it was making our trees fall over. You are making us really long for fall days...but, we have no choice but to wait a few more weeks. We still have swimming weather here.
