My New “Halter” Thingy

Hi Y’all,

We went to the orchard to get some apples and order the ones for our root cellar.  My Human decided this was a good time for me to practice in my new halter.

The halter is okay I guess.  I’ve found if I make my neck rigid I can still maintain a little control when I catch a good scent.

Those of you who know me, know I’ve jerked my Human off her feet a couple of times when I’ve gotten overly excited. So my Human started walking me in a pinch collar. I’m pretty well behaved and heel, switching sides so I’m away from approaching humans and dogs.  Guess my Human has spent too much time with horses, so she thinks everything big should wear a halter! Even me!

Let me give y’all a close up of those pretty flowers.

And of course, what we came for, the apples!

Y’all come back now…more adventures to share tomorrow!

  3. Hi Hawk Brown Dog
At least your human will be able to stay upright! - I had the gentle easy walk harness http://www.amazon.com/Premier-Harness-Large-Black-Silver/dp/B0009ZBKG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315906022&sr=8-1
for training and now I don't need it (well thats what my human thinks - if a duck flew past me I'm sure she would be flying after
it too hanging on to the lead!) You never know you'll be so good at walking without pulling she may not use it later on.

Good luck - nice to find you - look forward to seeing how you get on with your new walking skills!

  6. Gorgeous flowers and apple photos. Interesting lead. I have heard (and seen) more and more of these. I have considered getting one even though I wonder if Miss Stella would not be even more pre-judged. She already is due to her size. People shy away just because she looks so big (not cool to prejudge!) and with something around her mouth I wonder, like Kari said, if they would not think she was mean. Either way, please let us know how it goes. I want to learn more! : )

  12. We used to have one of those harnesses, but I got really really scared when we would walk past big dogs and I would lay down and cry. the Mama switched and got me an EasyWalk harness and now I walk like a perfect gentleman. I don't even need the special harness anymore! Good luck learning NOT to pull your human of her feet. Doesn't she know it was just an *accident*??
