Stranger than Strange

Hi Y’all!

P1200885

In my world sometimes things appear a bit strange…like the cottonwood tree.

P1200881

Those seeds open and the breeze and winds off the water make the fuzzy cotton like stuff fly through the air…kind of looks like millions of cotton balls blowing around.

But then there are some things stranger than strange…

Take a closer look…

Still don’t see it? Take a close look at the gosling on the left with its head up and the gosling eating just to the right of the adult…

Look at the picture below…see it?

Below is another picture…notice the 3 grouped together are about the same size.  The 1 in front of the adult is a different color down and the 1 to the right is larger and darker.

Before you ask, there are no other adult geese or goslings in the yard…that is a mallard eating with its back to us.

This has been exhausting…

Y’all come back now!

  2. Those goslings certainly hatched out over a real span of time, didn't they! Lots of activity for a guy to keep an eye on :-)

  3. I guess mallards and geese don't normally co-habitate the grassy area there. Is this a first, Hawk? You witnessed it, Yay!

Those goslings are so cuddly cute.
    Time to snooze!

  6. Great photos! We see an occasional Canada Goose but not too many ducks in our neighborhood.

  7. We often see ducks and geese in the same pond area, but it does seem a bit unusual for them to be associating so closely. Sweet. :)

  9. You got some good shots there, that's pretty unusual for ducks, isn't it? Not that I know much about them myself.
