Hi Y’all!
Today I’m joining Slim Doggy, Emma from MyGBGV Life and To Dog With Love in Fit Dog Friday blog hop!
I’m also joining the Pet Parade Blog Hop hosted by Rascal and Rocco and co-hosted by Jan's Funny Farm, Basil the Bionic Cat, Barking from the Bayou, and Love is being Owned by a Husky!
And, since it’s the last Friday of the month…check out all the Halloween tales (or is it tails?)…
Most of y’all are celebrating Halloween…we live in a rural area and have never seen a “trick or treater”.
Hope y’all have a ghostly good time!
Yesterday I promised y’all…“Check out my post tomorrow for more about recall training.”
Let’s go all the way back to when I first came to live with my Humans…One day I found myself in the long hall with a long rope attached to my collar…
My Human put me in a “sit, wait” at the end of the hall. She walked to the other end. Then she called me “here!”
Then we moved outside…still with the “check cord” (rope) on my collar.
"I knew there was no turning back now!" Only going forward…
Molly The Wally comments…
“Great catch up Hawk and now back to treats...??? Have a tremendous Thursday.
Best wishes Molly”
Yep treats…I got treats when I came “here”. I still get treats when I “here”. It didn’t take long for me to realize my Human could pull me back with that “check cord”.
“my mom said, that's THE RIGHT way: you get paid for doing... and then she looked at moi... seems I have a problem, huh?”
No, you don’t have a problem…we’re retrievers…we love to retrieve stuff…the Humans have to pay up when we help them. Humans work, why shouldn’t we?
Sometimes I think my Humans chose me because I was a retriever. Retrievers work closely with their humans.
Now, there are “sight hounds” that chase anything that moves and “scent hounds” that will track anything ‘til they find it. These breeds have a strong prey drive and may be less inclined to think of their human as a partner.
If they’re not careful they might catch a Goblin!!!
Then there are “another” kind of dog…BOL!!! All they need to do is “train the humans!”
“Our training has expanded to include giving treats when one of us leaves the living room and then comes back. Trixie insists that the key is her intense stare-down while Grayson wants to believe that his Kung-Fu puppy spinning back-kick does the trick for treats. To be quite honest about it, we are helpless to resist either one. Sigh.”
“Our pups get treats for looking cute - we are suckers!
Monty and Harlow”
Unfortunately, my Human isn’t into “cute” or “eyes”…I have to train EVERY day. My Human is big on “reinforcing” training.
Y’all come on back now!
