Helping with Thanksgiving Preparations!

Hi Y’all!

P1300106

On my Thankful Thursday post, Ruskus noticed my basket…

Ruckus Eskie said...

“Whatcha trying to collect in this basket today? Thanks for hopping on to the Thanksgiving edition of This 'N That Thursday! Hope you have lots of goods this holiday!”

P1300103

Retrievers don’t just need to retrieve.  We can help our Humans by picking things up…

P1300109

and carrying things…

P1300107

In this case I was helping my Human to carry baskets to the root cellar where she filled them with apples and pears to use in her baking for Thanksgiving.

Follow Up and Fitness on Friday

Hi Y’all!

P1300368

On Sunday’s black and white post…Bask in the Warmth of the Sun…

Sam said...

“Oh what could it be?
Monty and Harlow”

Tenacious Terrier said...

“Uh oh. Did you catch a squirrel?”

P1300231

Sorry to disappoint y’all…but I was just standin’ there enjoying the warm sunshine on a chilly mountain day.

About my Mischief Monday post

Roxy the traveling dog said...

“BOL...Hawk, that stick is huge! Did you get to play with it again?”

P1300057

No, I didn’t play with it again.  I really prefer bumpers.

Flea said...

“That's a mighty big stick, Hawk! What're ya gonna do with it? Kinda tough for playing fetch.”

P1300201

I’ve learned from Goose that you have to rescue them and save them from…ummm…I’m not sure what I’m saving them from…????

Jackie Bouchard said...

“Do you bark softly while you carry that big stick? Looks like you could play some baseball with that one! We read Alfie's post - so be careful out there!”

P1300208

I haven’t tried to bark too…seems like it would be kind of difficult…

Linda Bliss said...

“Roooo Hawk - that is one pawsome stick for sure! I love sticks too, but last Sunday I hurt my throat really bad on a stick whilst playing fetch so you be careful buddy! *Waggy tail*
Here's what my human wrote after we got back from the vets:
http://www.alfiesblog.com/dogs-life/alfie-never-chase-sticks/
Woofs from Alfie”

P1300211

Alfie, you’ll be happy to know that my Human doesn’t allow me to chew on sticks not chase them and fetch them.  Once I’d rescued this one and hidden it my job was done.  I did check yesterday and it’s still where I hid it.

My Human said to tell you that, after reading Alfie’s post that she’ll never allow me to help her gather up sticks in the yard again.

Then

Susie and Sidebite said...

“How about we send Goose over, maybe just a little bit more training from the Master would help, but you did do a pretty good job!
The Mad Scots”

Sounds like a great idea y’all!

And I did.  Thanks for the reminder.

If y’all stop by tomorrow I’ll show you how I helped my Human get ready for Thanksgiving.

A Thankful Day

Hi Y’all!

P1300320

My friends in Canada had their Thanksgiving last month at a time when the autumn leaves are at their peak and Mother Nature is at perhaps its most beautiful.

In the U.S. we are celebrating Thanksgiving today.  Most places in the U.S. are already looking bleak and wintery…I hope everyone is safe and warm today.

So today I’m taking a moment to look around for personal things to be thankful.

P1300322

My Humans and I have so many things for which to be thankful.  The main one is that we have each other and together are a warm, loving and happy family!

How to Rescue a Stick?

Hi Y’all!

P1300238

Look what the winds blew down…Hmmm, or maybe Goose was here and brought them with him.  You think?

P1300057

Don’t see the Human Papa…Don’t hear him comin’…

P1300059

Hey stick!  Stop fightin’ me!  I don’t know how Goose does it!?

P1300199

P1300201

P1300206

P1300208

P1300209

Hmmm…I have to hurry and hide this stick!  before the Humans notice what I’m doing…

Friday, Fun and Fitness Follow Up

Hi Y’all!

P1300099

Last Saturdays post brought a question from

FiveSibesMom said...

“Beautiful pics of you running through the leaves! Looks like you're having so much fun! Can we join you?!”

P1290905

Of course y’all are welcome to come hike with me!  Be sure you practice your recall!  It’s really important when you’re running through woods off leash.

P1300065

On Black and White Sunday,

Cattle Aussies said...

“Nice job-were you trying to practice stacking?”

P1290888

I was practicing a “stand stay”.  My Human makes me practice stuff all the time.

Then came Mischief Monday…

Molly The Wally said...

“Yikes dogs hunting bears...are they used to flush them out??
Have a marvelous Monday Hawk.
Best wishes Molly”

P1300101

P1300102

The dogs chase the bears and “bay” them.  Different states have different rules for the hunters.  Some states have different seasons, just like deer hunting…bow and arrow, crossbow and firearm.

 P1290956

On the Federal lands we usually see them with big heavy cages.  They hunt with tranquilizer guns on 4 wheelers.

Roxy the traveling dog said...

“Better to be safe than sorry. They hunt bears with collars on them???”

P1290959

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking.  Just to clarify, the dogs wear trackin’ collars.  The bears are not collared or tagged.

Flea said...

“Bear hunters? Will you tell us more about bear hunters in another post? That sounds interesting. I take it they aren't hunting Winnie The Pooh.”
www.dogtreatweb.com

P1290980

I’m afraid this was the “another post”, ‘cause that’s all I know about bear huntin’.

P1290985

Finally

Jackie Bouchard said...

“I think cutting the walk short sounds very smart! You don't want to get mixed up with the hunters!
What kind of bears? Brown bears?”

P1290987 We have black bears here.  Sometimes they stop traffic when they cross a road.  Once we saw one circling a stopped car.

The above tree is showing signs of where a bear has been.

Hope I’ve answered everyone’s questions.  Now I must be OFF!!!
