Ginger Bread? for Christmas…you need Ginger!

Hi Y’all,

I got to go with my Humans today.  It was raining, so they weren’t worried about it getting too hot in the car for me.  They got lots of stuff to fix for Thanksgiving and the makings of some special treats for me!  We stopped to visit some friends on the way home and ‘cause it was still rainin’ I waited in the car while my Human Momma played with their Great Pyrenees, Tammy.  Great Pyrenees (Picture courtesy of Animal Planet).

But I digress.

Do y’all like ginger bread?  Sorry, I don’t have any ginger bread for you, but I do have Ginger. Isn’t she pretty?

Ginger is a shy, sweet, 8 yr. old Chessie. She came from a southern shelter so little information is available.  Ginger is looking for a home with quiet adults and perhaps a gentle second dog. She is a classic looking Chessie, spayed, up to date on her shots, etc. Ginger would love a real life in a real home. Visit her webpage.

We are a wonderful, faithful, loving breed.  We accept whoever you accept.  We will do anything for you, even lay down our lives if necessary.  If you work with us and spend time, we will be a faithful helpmate. We want to be in the house with you, not shut outside only seeing you when you feed us.  We will work or play hard, but we want to be part of your life all the time.

A Week to be Thankful

Hi Y’all,

As I romped circles around my Humans today during our morning walk I overheard them talking about how lucky I was to be able to go on long walks with them and to be able to run free.  When we got back home I started thinkin’ about all the dogs who not only didn’t have my freedoms, but didn’t have a forever home either.  I can’t imagine going into this special season without a forever home and my own lovin’ family.

So today I want to introduce you to another special Chessie fella name Jessie.  You can find him on Petfinders.com  The first time Jessie came to Rescue was in 2005.  He was such a nice fella he easily found what he thought was his forever home.

However, his Human passed away earlier this month and Jessie finds himself back in rescue.    Look at those sad eyes…all they need is love.

Jessie is very gentle and gets along very well with the resident female Australian Shepard. Jessie is definitely a house dog. An outside only home will not be considered for him. He is a very devoted dog and just wants to be with people.

Although Jessie has been very good with the children he has met, he will not be placed in a home with small children due to his size. His tail can easily send a toddler flying. Please visit http://www.cbrrescue.org for more...

Hope everyone will be able to share Thanksgiving with their friends and family and especially with us furry pawed critters who care so much about you.

Fun Friday again…

Hawkeye on walk  Hi Y’all!!

So glad y’all could stop by today!

There is a special Blog Hop going on.   Be sure to check it out!

It’s been pretty much a “no collar” week with several days of rain and a couple days the Humans have had to do “ people stuff”.  However, earlier in the week my Human Momma and I got to explore a new trail.  We tried earlier when the leaves were all green but a large downed tree overgrown with briars stopped us.  Momma thought that now the leaves were gone we could pick our way around the downed tree and explore the rest of the trail.  The following are some pictures until Momma had to put her camera away when we reached the bog.  After the bog the trail went pretty much straight up and Momma needed both hands to grab saplings, tree trunks, rocks, even my collar to help her get to the top.

The trail is narrowing.Moving on through the open part of the trail.

Waiting on Momma

Takin' the low road  In this next picture the trail is pretty much overgrown with saplings. Disappearing into the undergrowth You can see my red collar way to the left of the picture.  Climbin' over logs A good part of the way we were just climbing over logs.  rough goin'  Lot's of downed timber  Hmmm.  Fence.  Hopefully, we can follow the fence the rest of the way. Checkin a new trail Comin' back to help Momma  Finally we reach the ridge and head on back home by an easier trail.  Reachin' the top No one can blame me to sleepin’ in tomorrow.  Glad to be headin' back (Actually it poured rain the next day.)

There’s not much view from the lower trail. View from the lower trail.

Hope y’all have a great weekend!

Y’all come back now!

Meet Scully!!!

Scully was turned into a shelter due to family financial problems.

Scully may be 9 years old but she is one fun gal! She usually walks around the house with a toy in her mouth and roos because she is so happy. She loves to go for car rides, walks, go swimming and play. She loves to cuddle and is content to sit at your side and chew her bone. Scully loves tummy rubs.

Scully would like to be an only dog. She loves people and thinks every person she meets is her best friend.

If you are looking for the best family companion ever, please consider Scully.

(Click on her name to go to her rescue page for more information on Scully.)

Workin’

Hi Y’all,

If y’all have a retriever, or any working dog who likes to carry things, there are so many things he can help you with around the house and yard.  You just have to use your imagination.  If your retriever shows an inclination to pick up certain things, teach him to take it and put it someplace special.

Here are some pictures of me helping to bring things from the root cellar. Carryin' basket to root cellarRestin'Grin...helpin' 's fun

Thursday was Veterans Day

Hi Y’all,

Thank you for your prayers and crossed paws for the young logger and his family.

Thursday was Veterans Day and we made our usual rounds of the cemeteries.  My Human Momma took a few pictures on this trip.  Here’s one of our WWII vets killed in battle. WW II Vet

I got to check out this entire cemetery.  Checkin' out the cemetery  Here I check out some flowers. Heck! They aren't real!  Poo!  they aren’t real!

Then I found these interesting tombstones, side by side, parents and son.  First the son’s tombstone. Cememtery   Then here is his parents’ marker. she was only 56  His dad lived to be 100 years old, but died when he was only 19.  His mom died at only at only 56 when he was 16.

I continued to search the cemetery to find other interesting things.  Still at the cemetery And look what I found!  Every retrievers dream! A pond!  Lookin' at the pond below the cemetary.
