Mischief Thursday

Hi Y’all!

Time for some mischief with Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog and My Brown Newfies.

Humans don’t really understand how much we understand your language.  We read your body language as well as much of your spoken language.

P1520607 You’ve helped us of course.  You taught us a huge vocabulary beginning with the basic words you call “commands”…BOL!!!

Well, last Wednesday night I knew the Humans were planning to leave on a trip without me.  I also gleaned from their conversation that, while I usually got to go on this trip, this time it was too hot to take me.

They were going to try to make it a round trip. Usually we all stayed over at least one night, but they had to be back for my dinner and bathroom time.

At 1 AM I went quietly over to the bed and barked softly at my Human Mama.  I knew it was a long hard drive.  Didn’t want them to get a late start!

Y’all just can’t seem to understand what we’re saying, even though we understand you.  Now I ask you, whose the smartest here?

My Human got up and took the alarms off and actually tried to get me to go outside.  Hey lady, you’ve got to shower and dress!  Let me sleep ‘til then…and I curled up in bed.

She was really annoyed as she reset the alarms and returned to bed.  However, she couldn’t go back to sleep. So I was successful keeping the Humans on schedule, even though they didn’t leave ‘til after 4 AM.

I don’t understand why she kept threatening to kill me and tellin’ my Human Papa that when they got home she was gonna kill me.

The last couple of days she’s been sick with a headache, so my life has been saved. Personally I think it was her just punishment for saying such a mean thing about me, don’t y’all?

I’ve been sleepin’ in the last few days until AFTER my Human is up and about.  A fellow can’t be too careful.

Y’all come on back now!

  1. that was a funny idea... the early bird gets up at 1 am when the dog goes back to bed, right? I hope the head aches go away ... and then your mom has forgotton what she would do with ya LOL

  2. Oh headaches are no fun. Better let them sleep a little later for awhile.

  3. Hahaha Hawk, that is too funny! I hope your human feels better, those nasty headaches aren't any fun!

  4. Yes Hawk, we love how you dogs keep us on a schedule sometimes, just don't tell Haley that I sometimes make her adjust to my schedule by pretending not to hear her when she wants to go outside in the middle of the night. :)

  5. Who could kill the brown dog. No one. Super cute story and I loved all the photos Hawk.

  6. Bravo to you for trying to keep the humans on schedule. Excuse momma's humans are not very pleasant on little sleep! Sure hope you mom's headaches feel better real soon.

  7. That was a really early wake-up call! Maybe you should give them a couple more hours next time.

  8. I was thinking the same thing as FiveSibesMom....we humans can get pretty crabby when we don't get enough sleep, and we say lots of things we don't mean. Once that headache is gone (hopefully soon), human Mom will be back to herself and she'll have forgiven you, Hawk!

  9. I know you were just trying to be helpful, Hawk, but that's an awful early wake up call! Still... Maybe the humans deserved that bit of mischief since they were plotting to go away without you! Hopefully they've learned a lesson and will take you along next time! (We can't talk though cuz we just went away without Rita!)

And hope your mom's headache went away! We know those are no fun!

    1. Hi Y'all!

Days of 90 degree heat make a dog happy to just snooze in the air conditioning and only go outdoors when absolutely necessary.

      Y'all hurry on back!

  10. I get crabby when Gambler licks my face all night and I can't sleep because of it. But it's my own fault as I keep letting him sleep in bed with me by my head. I just can't sleep without the little guy. Good job keeping your mom on time. So sorry for her headache.

  11. I think you did a wonderful job helping your Hu-parents stay on schedule! Can't imagine why they'd be sore at you. They just don't know any better, so you keep up the good work !

  12. Oh boy Hawk!!! Your poor human suffering with a headache, that's really too bad! Headaches are no fun for anyone!

  13. LOL I think the same things have occurred at this house. Hope your mom is better.
